The Municipality welcomes the return of CemAir, which is scheduled to resume operations from the Margate airport on Friday, 8 November 2019.

This follows the news that on 17 October CemAir had received its renewed Aircraft Operating Certificates from the SA Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), effectively granting CemAir the right to once again operate commercial flights on its South African registered air network.

This long awaited return will ensure that passengers can now travel between Margate and OR Tambo International airport in just 90 minutes. The resuscitation of this service operation will not only reduce the distance but will serve as a catalyst in the economic growth of the region.

Speaking on behalf of Council, Her Worship the Mayor, Councillor Nomusa Mqwebu said, “We are more than ready to welcome the first flight on 8 November. We call upon all residents of the South Coast to support this initiative as its success will have a positive impact on the outlook of the South Coast. We also thank residents for their patience. The municipality will give the airline unwavering support to provide an excellent service to our people”, she concluded.
